Whites at the World Cup

USA duo knocked out by Netherlands.

USA internationals Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson were in Round of 16 action on Saturday afternoon, facing the Netherlands at the 2022 World Cup.

The Whites had three players at the tournament this winter, with Rasmus Kristensen being the other, but Denmark were eliminated in the group stages.

We take a look at how each of our USA stars got on in their latest match.

Tyler Adams - USA 1-3 Netherlands

Leeds United’s representation in the 2022 World Cup has ended, after USA captain Tyler Adams saw his side defeated against Netherlands in the knock-out stages of the competition. A competitive and hard-fought match throughout saw the Oranje progress to the Quarter-Final with a 3-1 win. Despite the best effort of Adams, who has been ever-present for his side as they reached the Last 16 of the World Cup, he couldn’t stop an exciting and clinical Dutch side and that means his time in Qatar is over. Tyler finished the tournament having played every minute for his side.

Brenden Aaronson - USA 1-3 Netherlands

As was the case in his previous three matches, Brenden was introduced from the bench in this one, too. With his USA side two-goals behind, Aaronson came on in the 67th minute and looked to make an impact on the game. The stars and stripes pulled one back but then conceded again in the final 10 minutes, meaning they were knocked out of the competition. The 23-year-old attacking midfielder offered plenty throughout the tournament and gained plenty of experience in his first World Cup campaign.
