Jesse Marsch: They\'ve had a really good start to the season

Head coach on away trip to Brighton.

Jesse Marsch has spoken with the media at his pre-match press conference, previewing another away trip to the South Coast this weekend against Brighton & Hove Albion at the AMEX Community Stadium.

The head coach began his update to the media by sharing the latest on the fitness of his squad, ahead of the trip to face the Seagulls.

He said: “Junior Firpo and Luke Ayling, we think that they will be in training next week and potentially Mateusz Bogusz as well.

“Obviously Stuart Dallas is still months away, but working really hard. Then the big question mark is Patrick Bamford, we think he's doing well and moving forward.

“I think also with the performances of the team, it allows us to be patient [with Bamford] but we will still have a call to make for exactly what it means for this weekend. We want to put him in the best position possible to physically be ready to pick up where he left off."

The Whites recently drew their first game on the road, with Southampton, before returning to home turf and winning twice against Chelsea, then Barnsley in the Carabao Cup.

Leeds United's head coach feels the team are building good momentum, but has also stated that there is still work to be done with his side.

Marsch explained: ”I would say obviously there's momentum, but we've talked a lot internally that we're only starting our process of becoming the team that we really want to become.

“There’s still a lot of work to do. There is nothing that keeps you more honest than what this league is and what football and sport in this country is.

“If you take one second to think that you've achieved anything then the next opponent can come and just clean you up.

“So, we really respect Brighton, they've obviously had a great season last year, they've made some good additions, they have a wonderful manager and they've had a really good start to the season.

“So we know that our focus and attention exactly to this challenge, will be the most important thing.”
