U23s Preview: Leicester City vs Leeds United

U23s Preview: Leicester City vs Leeds United

Whites back in PL2 action.

Mark Jackson’s Under 23s side are back in Premier League 2 Division One action on Friday evening, as they travel to face Leicester City (7pm).

The PL2 clash is at the King Power Stadium, home of the Foxes, and will be the fourth away trip of the campaign for Jackson’s side, who have won their previous three on the road.

Steve Beaglehole's side have won once in their opening five matches, but that record doesn’t tell the full story. With the exception of a heavy defeat against Crystal Palace, every match has been a close encounter, with two  goal-scoring draws to begin the campaign.

Leeds are joint highest on goals scored so far this season, with 18 netted in just six games but the team will also want to tighten up at the other end. The last league match was a 4-4 draw with Blackburn which frustrated head coach, Jackson, after his side conceded in stoppage time.

Top-scorer for the Whites up to now is Joe Gelhardt, having netted six in six, including a double last time out. The Foxes have three players who have all scored twice each.

A win for Leeds could see them go top of the table on Friday evening, depending on results elsewhere in the league. Leicester could go above Manchester United in seventh with the three points - again, if results elsewhere go their way.

This will be the last league outing for both teams before the international break begins next week, with Leeds back in PL2 action on Monday 18th October, away at Everton.
