Captain on Everton draw.

Leeds United defender Liam Cooper spoke to the media following Saturday’s draw with Everton.

Goals from Mateusz Klich and Raphinha earned Leeds a first Premier League point of the season, in a 2-2 draw at Elland Road.

Cooper spoke about what it was like playing in front of a sold out Elland Road again for the first time since March 2020 and gave his verdict on the match.

“It was unbelievable, it’s been a long time coming and we’ve missed them so much,” said Cooper.

“Walking out today, the atmosphere, the energy and positivity is what we feed off, they’re our 12th man at every single home game and I’m buzzing to have them back.

“Overall, I thought we were the better team to be honest.

“If there is another 5-10 minutes in that game, we were the team in the ascendancy and perhaps we’d have nicked a goal.

“We showed great character coming from behind twice and it’s a performance we can take a lot of positives from and we’ll learn on the other side of it as well.

“I’m buzzing with the attitude the lads showed and we can build on that.

“It took a few days to get over last week against a rival, it was a big game for us and our fans, we stewed on it for a few days, prepared properly, trained hard and put the wrongs from last week right.

“We had a right good go, it was two good teams going at it and as I said, I thought we could have nicked it at the end.”
