Important information for fans travelling to Old Trafford

Key information on travel, COVID protocols & remembering those we've lost.

For all Leeds United supporters attending Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon for our opening game of the 2021/22 season, there is some key information to be aware of ahead of your visit.

For many, this will be the first game you have attended since the Covid pandemic and therefore your matchday may be slightly different to before and so we recommend that you arrive early at the stadium ahead of kick-off (scheduled for 12.30pm) and have your ticket ready on arrival. Please also note that all kiosks at Old Trafford are now cashless, so please plan accordingly.

Key travel Information

We strongly advise all Leeds United supporters to allow plenty of time to travel to the ground on Saturday morning, with a number of essential works taking place on rail and tram services which may impact your travel to the fixture.

Please note that there will be no trams operating through the city centre and for supporters travelling by train, you are advised to use one of the frequent services which run directly to Manchester Piccadilly*. The improvement works that are taking place mean that Leeds services to Manchester Victoria, via Halifax, will only operate as far as Moston with a bus replacement service in place for the rest of the way.

To travel to the ground, Leeds fans should board one of the dedicated shuttle bus services outside Manchester Piccadilly Station on Fairfield Street, which is near to where the station’s taxi rank is located. This service is specifically for Leeds United supporters only.

After the match, buses will depart from the E2 car park and head directly to Manchester Piccadilly for your journey home.

Please make sure you check the status of your train before travelling using the National Rail website.

For those driving to the game, roadworks are currently taking place in the city centre, on the A56 Chester Road and on Trafford Road – therefore we encourage you to please allow plenty of time to account for potential congestion in the area around Old Trafford.

Alternatively, fans may want to consider parking at the Trafford Centre (Exit M60 at Junction 9 or 10), taking a Deansgate-Castlefield bound tram to the ground, alighting at the Wharfside stop. This journey should take less than 15 minutes with a five-minute walk from the stop to the away fans’ entrance.

*Services to Manchester Piccadilly depart from Leeds at 8.07, 8.15, 8.45, 9.07, 9.15, 9.45, 10.07 and 10.15.

Covid Protocols

There will not be any COVID certification checks at the stadium, but we encourage all supporters to take a lateral flow test within 48 hours of the match – with anyone testing positive or displaying symptoms having to isolate and unfortunately miss the game.

Please be mindful that players and backroom staff are required to remain in their bubbles and therefore we ask that you do not stop them for autographs and photographs before or after the game.

An updated Supporters’ Code of Conduct for those visiting Old Trafford can be found here.

Remembering those who have passed

A minute’s silence will be held ahead of the game to remember former players and fans of both clubs who have passed away since March 2020.

Given the number of former players, family members and friends who have passed away in the last 18 months from both clubs, this will be an appropriate time to pause for a moment of reflection prior to the new season getting underway.

Both sets of players will gather round the centre circle prior to kick-off for the minute of silence, with fans in attendance asked to pay their respects and join them as we remember those who are no longer with us.
