Old adversaries Barnsley are the visitors to Thorp Arch on Monday (1pm) for a Under-21 Professional Development League One fixture.

It’s the fifth meeting between the two sides this season with Barnsley having won three to United’s one. The Tykes were victorious in the opening league game of the season, won a friendly, and also knocked Neil Redfearn’s side out of the league cup.

United’s victory came in a September friendly at Thorp Arch, courtesy of a Lewis Walters goal.

Monday’s meeting will see a sprinkling of experience in the United side with Adam Drury and Marius Zaliukas lining up at the back. Alex Mowatt will play at the heart of the midfield and Dominic Poleon and Zac Thompson add further senior experience.

Chris Dawson will captain the side.
