Preview: Leeds United vs Real Betis

Whites play their fourth game of the week.

Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United travel to Loughborough University on Saturday lunchtime, to take on La Liga's Real Betis (12:30pm).

The Spanish side will prove to be a tough test for the Whites, as they finished 6th their division last year, earning a place in the Europa League for the 2021/22 campaign.

In the dugout for Los Verdiblancos will be the well-known former Premier League manager, Manuel Pellegrini. Having won the Premier League with Manchester City, he then went on to also manage West Ham during his time in England.

Former Real Madrid player Sergio Canales is likely to be involved, and will need to be watched closely. The attack-minded midfielder starred for Pellegrini’s side last term and will be looking to find that form again during pre-season.

Leeds come into the game having played three pre-season matches so far, bringing a win, a draw and a loss. The win came at Guiseley AFC, before a mid-week draw at Blackburn Rovers. Friday night saw a very young Whites side lose 2-1 in a well-contested match against Fleetwood Town.

Betis come into the game having played English opposition twice already during their warm-up matches. Both of those games have seen them suffer 1-0 defeats, at the hands of fellow Premier League side Wolves, and Championship outfit Derby County.
