Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier spoke to LUTV ahead of Friday’s Premier League fixture with Aston Villa.

The Whites are looking to get back to winning ways, after suffering a narrow 1-0 home defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday.

Aston Villa are the only team in the top-flight to have a 100 per cent record still intact and Meslier is relishing the challenge of trying to bounce back with a positive result.

“The Wolves game was a little frustrating because it was a good game and we dominated the opponent,” said Meslier.

“This can happen in the Premier League, we had the possession, but lost this game and now the one objective is focusing on Friday for a win at Aston Villa.

“Every game is very close and it’s very hard, all of the teams are very good and every game is a fight in the Premier League.

“It is very, very difficult to win a game which we know, and we are just focused on game after game.

“It’s good for the team to try and break the series, Aston Villa have had four games and four wins, but we are Leeds and we arrive to win and I hope we are able to win against Aston Villa.”

Meslier also spoke about his own individual performances, stepping up into the Premier League.

He said: “I need to have my level with the team and my teammates and for now it is okay.

“But the Premier League is 38 games, so I need to perform for 38 games.

“I’ve had a good start, but I know the most difficult thing is to perform game after game at a high level.

“Every team is difficult with good strikers and it’s important for me and the defence to not concede goals.”
