Leeds United produced a fabulous second half fight back, to come from two goals down and defeat Millwall 3-2 at Elland Road.

Millwall made a bright start to the game, stealing possession in the Leeds half, Jed Wallace put a low ball into the box which fell to Ryan Woods, but he couldn’t keep his strike down.

The visitors took the lead in the fourth minute.  Wallace whipped in a corner and Shaun Hutchinson was on hand to head home.

Leeds almost hit back when Stuart Dallas laid the ball off to Ezgjan Alioski, who saw a strike from the edge of the box go just over the crossbar.

Mateusz Klich was next to go close firing just wide from 25 yards as Leeds looked for an imminent response.

In the 13th minute Jack Harrison did well to tee up Patrick Bamford in the box, but he could only fire straight at Bartosz Bialkowski.

Dallas then did superbly to break into the Millwall box, before getting his strike away, but he was denied by a superb save by Bialkowski, which strangely saw the referee award a goal kick, despite going wide for a corner.

Dallas saw a strike from long range well saved, before the visitors were awarded a penalty.  The ball appeared to go out of play in the build up, before Jon Dadi Bodvarsson was felled and Wallace duly stepped up to take the spot kick.

Leeds had another good opportunity to pull a goal back in the 28th minute, but skipper Liam Cooper could only head straight at the Millwall goalkeeper following a Pablo Hernandez corner.

Hernandez did well to work room for a shot but could only fire over, as Leeds continued to press, but were unable to get on the score-sheet before the break.

Half time: Leeds United 0-2 Millwall

Leeds started the second half brightly and won a corner.  Harrison saw an effort superbly saved, but there was no stopping Bamford from converting from close range with the rebound.

Bamford’s goal gave the Elland Road crowd a big lift and soon after Helder Costa stole possession and teed up Bamford who saw a strike superbly blocked and from the follow up, Hernandez saw a strike saved.

Alioski was inches away from getting on the end of a Luke Ayling cross, whilst at the other end Wallace found Tom Bradshaw who brought out the best of Kiko Casilla.

Bamford put a header just inches wide following a neat Alioski cross, before Bialkowski was again in great form to deny Harrison from close range, after Hernandez’s ball into the area.

Leeds levelled the scores in the 62nd minute, with Hernandez finding the bottom left corner with a neat strike from the edge of the box.

Elland Road then erupted four minutes later when Bamford headed home Alioski’s cross to turn the game on its head.

Bodvarsson was denied from a narrow angle by Casilla in a rare Millwall chance, before Costa nearly added a fourth Leeds goal, creating room for a strike with some good skill, with his effort hitting the crossbar.

Leeds produced some magical build up play with 11 minutes of normal time remaining, resulting in Hernandez striking just wide.

The Whites should have sealed it three minutes later when Bamford played Harrison in, his ball across goal was dummied by Costa, giving Klich acres of space, but he put the glorious chance over.

Alioski fired inches over, before Leeds saw out over four minutes of added time to secure the three points and results elsewhere sent Marcelo Bielsa’s side to the top of the Sky Bet Championship.
