Marcelo Bielsa: The goal made it easier for us to develop play

Head coach on Huddersfield Town win.

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa spoke to the media following Saturday’s victory over Huddersfield Town.

Second half goals from Ezgjan Alioski and Pablo Hernandez secured the Whites all three points at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The win was Leeds’ sixth in succession in the Sky Bet Championship, but Bielsa was not completely satisfied with the performance of his side.

“In the first half we should have created more chances,” said Bielsa.

“We had some opportunities to have a chance, but we couldn’t end it very well.

“We arrived in good condition in front of the opponents’ box, but we failed in the last pass.

“In most of the match, but especially the second half, we defended the set-pieces badly.

“We could have scored more goals, but we could have received one goal as well.

“Our first goal from Alioski made it easier for us to develop the play in the second half.”

Bielsa also spoke about the two forced changes he had to make to his  starting line-up with Kalvin Phillips suspended and Liam Cooper injured.

He said: “It wasn’t about the lack of players we had today.

“Gaetano Berardi had to replace Cooper and he did a good match, Ezgjan Alioski did well as well.

“Ben White was in the function of Kalvin, Alioski instead of Dallas and the rest of the team are the same players.

“We could resolve their absences today.”
