Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa spoke to the media following Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Luton Town.

The Whites made it three wins in a row, courtesy of a brace from Patrick Bamford at Kenilworth Road.

The win moved Leeds to second in the Sky Bet Championship and Bielsa was pleased to secure the three points.

“I think the result was fair, it was a good performance from the team,” said Bielsa.

“In the first half it was a little more easy, but in the second half we fought a little bit more.

“Usually it’s very difficult to win, if you don’t fight, you don’t have a good condition to play and if you want to win you have to fight, if not, you cannot. We fought and we could play as well.

“After we got the first goal we had a chance where we could have imposed the second one.

“After we scored the second goal we had two clear chances.

“You have seen the last ball of the match was for them, the number three at the far post and when you have just a goal of difference, deserving to win is not enough.

“But playing here in this stadium is not easy.

“When you have reduced spaces it’s always difficult for the team who attacks and with the pitch smaller, this difficulty increases.

“When you play in small spaces, the possibility to score when you build the attack decreases and that means that it allows the team defending can counter attack.

“This is a team compact in defence, they recover and they counter attack very fast, they play long balls after to recover and in this pitch long balls means going from box to box.”

Bielsa also spoke about the influences of Patrick Bamford who scored both goals and Ben White who provided the assist for the opening goal.

Bielsa said: He (Bamford) deserves it.

“Today he had a lot of contact with the opening goal and the fact he has scored twice, that strengthens his confidence.

“It's easy to value what White did, it's obvious.

“It was a great, brilliant resolution and that is a way to describe how football is going.

“The attackers defend and the defenders are also involved in the building of the attack.

“It's not normal that one centre-back gives these kind of passes that Ben White did.”
