Marcelo Bielsa: It was a beautiful match

Head coach on Barnsley victory.

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa spoke to the media following Sunday’s victory over Barnsley at Oakwell in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Whites left it late, with Eddie Nketiah’s 84th minute volley and Mateusz Klich’s 89th minute penalty securing Leeds United all three points.

Bielsa was delighted to come away with the victory in the Yorkshire derby, but also had a lot of praise for the hosts.

“It was a match that we deserved win, but could have lost and we could have drawn as well,” said Bielsa.

“They were a very good opponent, we have to say it, they are a young team who ran a lot and always tried to play and I congratulate their manager and their players as well.

“It's an honest team and the Championship is incredible, that a team like this is at the bottom of the table.

“We insisted a lot and we kept going with the same intensity, sometimes we have been lucky to score or receive a goal, which has an impact.

“It was not difficult to create chances, the difficulty was to score, in the first-half we had five chances and in the second half a little bit more.

“For me, the most important thing was that it was a beautiful match.

“I feel everybody who watched the match, enjoyed it.”
