Bailey Peacock-Farrell: The race starts now

Goalkeeper on pre-season.

Leeds United goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell admitted he sacrificed extra time off, in order to be fully prepared for the upcoming 2019/20 campaign.

Both Peacock-Farrell and Stuart Dallas were on the international stage over the off season with Northern Ireland, helping the Green and White Army record two wins in Euro 2020 qualifying.

The Whites returned to pre-season training on Monday as the club get ready to face Bristol City in the first game of the campaign at the start of August, a match the Whites stopper is hoping to play in.

“Myself and Stuart Dallas had the option of another week off due to playing international football, but for me and what I want to do, if I’d taken that week off I would have been a week behind in terms of preparations for the season,” said Peacock-Farrell.

“The race starts now for the start of the season, I knew if I’d have taken the extra week off I would have regretted it, I want to be here and fight to be here and play here, so the best way to do that was to be here on the first day.

“Both me and Kiko want to play, we get on really well and the worst thing about being a goalkeeper is that only one of us can play.

“If I want to do that, I need to be here, not having another week on holiday.

“We will be pushing each other in training and we’ll see what the manager does come the first game.”
