Fixtures: 2019/20 Key dates & information

The lowdown on the 2019/20 fixtures.

Who do Leeds play in the opening fixture of the season?

Leeds United will travel to Ashton Gate for the first match of the 2019/20 campaign.  The game will take place on Sunday 4th August 2019 at 4:30pm and will be shown live on Sky Sports.  Leeds completed the double over Bristol last season, winning 2-0 at home and 1-0 away.  The Whites have lost just one of the last 14 matches against the Robins.

 

When is Leeds’ first home match?

The Whites will entertain Nottingham Forest at Elland Road in the first home game of the season.  The match is scheduled to take place on Saturday 10th August.  Kemar Roofe handed Leeds a late equaliser in the home fixture last season, as the two sides played out a 1-1 draw.

 

When are the Yorkshire derbies?

Leeds have two Yorkshire derbies from last season in the form of Hull City and Sheffield Wednesday and they are joined by newcomers Huddersfield Town and Barnsley, who join the Championship from the Premier League and League One respectively.  The first derby game is against Barnsley at Oakwell on Saturday 14th September.  This is followed by two away trips to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday 26th October and Huddersfield Town on Saturday 7th December.  Leeds entertain Hull City at Elland Road three days later on Tuesday 10th December, followed by Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday 11th January.  The Whites travel to Hull City on Saturday 29th February, before hosting Huddersfield Town on Saturday 7th March and Barnsley on Saturday 18th April.

 

Who are the festive fixtures against?

Marcelo Bielsa’s side have been given one home fixture and three away fixtures over the festive period.  The Whites travel to Fulham on Saturday 21st December, before entertaining Preston North End on Boxing Day (Thursday 26th December) at Elland Road.  The Whites are then on the road at Birmingham City on Saturday 29th December and West Bromwich Albion  on New Year’s Day.

 

Who are the Easter fixtures against?

Leeds welcome Stoke City to Elland Road on Good Friday (10th April) and head to Swansea City on Easter Monday (13th April).

 

Who is the last game of the season against?

The last game of the season will see Leeds United take on Charlton Athletic, who are managed by former Whites midfielder Lee Bowyer.  Charlton are back in the Championship after winning promotion from League One last season via the Play-Offs.

 

When do you know if games will get moved for TV?

Last season Leeds were selected as the main game on Sky Sports 24 times.  The EFL have provided the club with a full list of Sky Sports selection notification dates to help supporters with travel and ticketing plans.  CLICK HERE for the full list of dates.

 

When are the international weekends during the season?

There are four weekends in the campaign for internationals.  These are the following weekends:

- 6-8 September

- 11-13 October

- 15-17 November

- 27-29 March

 

How do FA Cup fixtures fit in?

The FA Cup third round is on the weekend 3-6 January, which is why there is no fixture currently scheduled for this date.  If Leeds progress, these will take place on the following dates and league fixtures will be re-arranged:

Fourth round: 24-27 January

Fifth round: 3-5 March (midweek)

Quarter final: 20-23 March

Semi-final: 18-19 April

Final: 23 May

 

When will Carabao Cup fixtures be played?

First round: W/C 12 August

Second round: W/C 26 August

Third round: W/C 23 September

Fourth round: W/C 28 October

Quarter final: W/C 16 December

Semi-final first leg: W/C 5 January

Semi-final second leg: W/C 27 January

Final: 1 March
