MARCELO BIELSA: WE HAVE PLAYERS WHO DESERVE TO BE STARTERS

Head coach on QPR.

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa spoke to the media ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup tie with Queens Park Rangers.

The Whites head to Loftus Road in the Third Round, looking to bounce back after successive league defeats.

Bielsa gave his ideas for the game by naming his proposed team during his weekly press conference.

“We have players that are not usually starters but they deserve to be starters, so I take these players into account for the FA Cup competition,” said Bielsa.

“You also have players who are starters but they need to play too and you also have players who prefer to play rather than to rest.

“Bailey Peacock-Farrell will start, Jamie Shackleton will play as right-back, he’s an important player.

“Aapo Halme will play because Pontus Jansson will train normally from Monday onwards.

“Luke Ayling will play too because he needs to play, because Kalvin Phillips is suspended and Liam Cooper will play with under-23s on Monday.

“Leif Davis will play too, because Barry Douglas is injured, Adam Forshaw will play as number four, Lewis Baker as a number eight.

“Mateusz Klich has played 36 games, he played all the games we have had and he also played all the international games so I think for him to rest is an obligation.

“For Pablo Hernandez it’s also an obligation to rest and Tyler Roberts will play.

“Jack Harrison will play as number nine, Jack Clarke on the right and Ezgjan Alioski on the left.

“As Patrick Bamford is not present I’m interested in seeing Jack Harrison as a number nine, in the time he played in this position he scored a goal.

“The fact that he scored a goal doesn’t mean anything but it’s a possibility we would like to develop and it’s also convenient for Kemar Roofe not to play this game.

“This is the scenario for today and I’m giving all these details because I wouldn't like people to think I’m not respecting the competition.”
