EFL Manager and Player of the Month named.

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa and striker Kemar Roofe have both picked up accolades for the month of August.

Bielsa has been named the EFL Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month, whilst Roofe has been named the EFL Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month.

Whites head coach Bielsa has guided Leeds to the top of the Championship table after taking 14 points from the opening six league games.

Leeds have had impressive wins against Stoke City, Rotherham United, Derby County and Norwich City and have a better goal difference than any other side in the division.

He also made history by becoming the first Leeds United head coach or manager to win their opening four competitive matches.

Roofe, has impressed in front of goal during the month of August, finding the net four times for the Whites in the opening six Championship games.

He netted a brace in the 4-1 away victory against Derby County at Pride Park and also scored against Rotherham United and Swansea City.

Speaking about the award, Roofe said: “I’m really pleased, it is a credit to our season so far, everyone has played well and I’m sure a few other players in the team could have won it.

“It is always good to get some goals under your belt and as a striker nowadays you are judged on that.

“The main thing, though, is that we are the top of the league and we are getting good results.

“The longer we can keep our unbeaten run going, the stronger chance we have of maintaining our position high up in the league, we are going to keep working hard on the field and in the gym and hopefully we will improve.”
