MATCH PREVIEW: NORWICH CITY V LEEDS UNITED

MATCH PREVIEW: NORWICH CITY V LEEDS UNITED

We analyse Saturday's fixture.

Leeds United travel to Carrow Road on Saturday, for the club's final Sky Bet Championship away fixture of the 2017/18 campaign.  Both Leeds and Norwich would've liked to be higher up the division, but find themselves in mid-table as the season draws to a close.  The Whites have a good recent record against the Canaries, unbeaten in the last four meetings and a Pontus Jansson goal secured Leeds all three points at Elland Road back in December.  Paul Heckingbottom's side will be looking to back up last Saturday's victory against Barnsley with another three points at Carrow Road.

Ronaldo Vieira scored a dramatic injury time winner to secure Leeds a 3-2 victory over Norwich City at Carrow Road in November 2016.  Robbie Brady’s looping header, ended up going in off Luke Ayling to give the home side the lead, before Pontus Jansson netted his first goal for Leeds from a corner in the second half.  Chris Wood put Leeds into the lead, but Norwich substitute Kyle Lafferty leveled with two minutes of normal time remaining.  However Vieira unleashed a wonderful drive from 30 yards in the first minute of added time, which found the bottom corner to secure Leeds all three points.

Team news

Liam Cooper and Adam Forshaw both returned to the bench for Leeds last Saturday against Barnsley and both could start for Leeds at Carrow Road.  Onel Hernandez came off the bench for Norwich following a period out in their last outing against Preston North End.  Marley Watkins could be fit to return to the squad on Saturday, but the game is likely to come too soon for Matt Jarvis, Marco Stiepermann, Louis Thompson and Tom Trybull.

The key battle

James Maddison v Pablo Hernandez

Norwich 21-year-old Maddison has been one of the standout players in the division this season.  In all competitions he had made 47 appearances for the Canaries this season and scored 15 goals.  United's experienced playmaker Hernandez has been equally impressive with nine goals and nine assists to his name during the campaign and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top between the duo on Saturday.
