PAUL HECKINGBOTTOM: THE SAME ERRORS HAUNTED US

Head coach on Sheffield Wednesday loss.

Leeds United head coach Paul Heckingbottom spoke exclusively to LUTV following Saturday’s Yorkshire derby defeat.

A stoppage time winner from Atdhe Nuhiu, ensured Sheffield Wednesday left Elland Road with all three points in the Sky Bet Championship.

Heckingbottom was satisfied with the performance, but was again left frustrated with the mistakes which cost his side at least a point.

“I sound like a broken record, similar to the Reading game, I should have been coming out and saying what the players have done well, picking out the individuals, praising with what they have done to win us the game.

“Instead, it is what you’ve done to cost us the game, there were lots of good things in there, but the same old errors haunted us.

“You have to be ruthless at both ends, we had big opportunities in the first half and put them under pressure in the second half and had one or two good opportunities.

“I have to credit Sheffield Wednesday with how they defended, but I still think we did enough.

“We also have to be ruthless at the other end as well and we weren’t.

“There is no lack of effort, the physical data will be up there, but it is the mental errors which have cost us.”
