THOMAS CHRISTIANSEN: WE PERFORMED VERY WELL IN THE SECOND HALF

Head coach on QPR victory.

Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen spoke exclusively to LUTV following Saturday’s victory over Queens Park Rangers.

Forward Kemar Roofe netted a hat-trick for the Whites to give Leeds a 3-1 victory at Loftus Road in the Sky Bet Championship.

Christiansen was thrilled with his team, who extended their unbeaten run to three matches.

“We are very happy, it was a must win game, but also very difficult,” said Christiansen.

“The team lost here 3-0 last year, so we know it is a good and an important three points that we have taken.

“We performed very well in the second half, we have to be honest the first half was bad, but in the second we deserved to win.

“QPR drew their last home game 2-2 by scoring in extra time, so I was worried when we conceded late on.

“However we managed to close the game out, by scoring a third goal which is very satisfying.

“It is great for Kemar’s confidence that he managed to score a hat-trick, it is good, but of course it is down to the performance of the whole team that he managed to score the three goals.

“We produced a very solid defensive game today which is very important, when you keep this strong, you will take many points.”

Christiansen also had praise for Pawel Cibicki who made his Championship debut from the bench and encouraged his players to take inspiration from this with the congested festive fixtures which are on the horizon.

“Over the Christmas period we have many difficult games, without many days to rest, so everyone will have to be ready, because there will be changes for sure.

“There was one today with Pawel, he came in and did perfect.

“He came out and made a very good impression and this is a lesson to everyone, that when the players get an opportunity, they have to take it, which Pawel did.”
