GARRY MONK: WE WANT TO SHOW HOW FAR WE HAVE COME

Head coach on QPR.

Leeds United head coach Garry Monk is looking forward to the prospect of returning to Elland Road on Saturday.

The Whites take on Queens Park Rangers, looking to record a ninth win in ten games on home soil.

Monk began reflecting on the midweek 1-1 draw with Fulham and is expecting another battle against the R’s on Saturday.

“We got a very good point on Tuesday night against a team who have been playing exceptionally well at home,” said Monk.

“Chris Wood and Luke Ayling didn’t feature on Tuesday, but they are both back in training and will be available again on Saturday.

“We had a big disappointment on our opening day against QPR, we felt we were better than what we showed.

“At the weekend we want to show how far we have come, we will have another big crowd and our passionate fans behind us.

“Ian Holloway has done a great job since going back to QPR and they have some very good players and they are in good form.

“It will be another tough test, all games in this division are difficult, especially at this time of the season when teams are fighting for all sorts of different reasons.

“You can see how hard the team is fighting for the three points every time they step onto the pitch.”

Should Rob Green feature for Leeds on Saturday it would mark his 600th league career appearance and Monk congratulated the Leeds number one.

He said: “It is a fantastic achievement, it just shows what a great professional he is and a great career he has had.

“Rob has done exceptionally well like everybody else this season, performing at a very high level and also lending his experience to the squad that we have here.

“He has been vitally important, he is a good goalkeeper and that is why I wanted to bring him here.”
