Norwegian Fans Boost Elland Road

A friendly invasion took place last weekend at Elland Road with more than 40 Norwegian fans making the trip over especially for the West Ham game.

Two years ago the match was a Premiership fixture and the public's imagination was captured again as the second highest gate of the season was recorded.

The Norwegian contingent were part of the Leeds United Supporters Club of Scandinavia, a thriving branch with over 3,000 members and many of whom make regular pilgrimages to Elland Road.

Asides from watching Kevin Blackwell's men record a great win over the Hammers, the group met United legend and current director Peter Lorimer at his pub, The Commercial Inn.

Lorimer is the president of the branch and he was also joined by currently injured United duo Eirik Bakke and Gylfi Einarsson, who until recently also used to play his football in Norway.

Many of the Norwegian supporters are hoping to make a return trip to watch Leeds this season - hopefully in the play-offs!
