Danish goalkeeper becomes first signing of the summer....

Richard Cresswell scores against Luton

Danish international goalkeeper Casper Ankergren has become the club's first permanent signing of the summer.

Casper, who has joined from Brondby for an undisclosed fee, signed a three-year contract with United on Monday afternoon.

The big Dane, who was on loan at Elland Road last term, was thrown straight into action on Monday evening when he played the opening 45 minutes as a young United side lost 2-0 to Guiseley.

Casper made 14 appearances for the club last season, and saved a penalty against Luton Town at Elland Road in March.

United boss Dennis Wise is hoping Casper will be the first of a number of signings this week.
