United's youngsters suffered FA Youth Cup heartbreak at Bristol City on Wednesday night.

Neil Thompson's gallant charges fell to a sucker punch in the sixth minute of stoppage time as City snatched a late winner to secure a 2-1 victory.

As extra time was looming, Robert Stambolziev scored with the final kick of the game to end United's cup hopes.

Stambolziev had earlier opened the scoring for the home side, but United got a deserved equaliser when Sam Jerome struck on 78 minutes.

Fabian Delph came within a whisker of putting United ahead in the closing stages, but the home side had the final word and now face a home tie against Man City or Everton.
