Robert Snodgrass

Highly-rated young striker Robert Snodgrass has joined Leeds United from Livingstone.

The two clubs have agreed a compensation package for the 20-year-old, and the player signed a three-year contract with Leeds on Thursday.

Snodgrass scored 10 goals for the Scottish First Division side last season and was attracting interest from a number of clubs.

But the lure of Leeds and the club's rich history proved a big draw for the ambitious young marksman.

"This move is a dream come true," said Robert.

"There were a few other clubs from the south that were interested, but this is a club of big stature.

"Over the years a lot of Scots have done well here, and I want to try and get to the next level now."

Robert will join up with the United squad for the final two weeks of the pre-season programme and says he can't wait to get started.

"There's a couple of weeks before the season starts," he added.

"I'm looking forward to getting started and getting sharp."

While Snodgrass has become the fourth permanent signing of the summer, manager Gary McAllister is still weighing up other options to strengthen his squad.

Argentinian Luciano Becchio is on trial with the club and is likely to play at Barnet on Saturday after impressing against Shelbourne on Wednesday night.

Canadian under-21 international Marcus Haber is also in the squad which will return from England on Friday in readiness for the weekend game at Underhill.
