We take a look through the players who have featured for both sides

Leeds United are back in action again on Wednesday evening as Queens Park Rangers visit Elland Road.

Ahead of the fixture, we take a look back through the years and pick out a selection of players who have worn the shirt for both clubs.

GK: Paddy Kenny

After eight years with Sheffield United, Kenny signed for Queens Park Rangers in the summer of 2010 where he would go on to achieve promotion to the Premier League under Neil Warnock for the second time. He spent two full seasons with the club and featured 81 times in all competitions before making the move back to Yorkshire where he joined Leeds United. He played in every league game in his first season and departed the club in 2014 with a total of 81 games to his name. 

DEF: Rio Ferdinand

Ferdinand made a name for himself with West Ham United and was later snapped up by Leeds for £18 million in 2000 - then a British transfer record. He played 73 games for the Whites and was part of the side that reached the Champions League semi-final in 2001. The defender returned to London in 2014 when he signed for Queens Park Rangers but only racked up 12 appearances all season for the Rs during the 2014/15 campaign.

DEF: Tony Ingham

Born in Harrogate, Ingham played for Leeds United from 1947 to 1950 but rarely featured for the club during these years. He played just three times for the Whites and signed for QPR in June 1950. The defender would go on to become the club’s record appearance maker and play 548 games for the the Rs over the course of 13 years in London.

DEF: Clarke Carlisle

Once awarded the title ‘Britain’s Brainiest Footballer,’ Carlisle played for Leeds during the 2004/05 campaign and racked up 38 appearances in all competitions during his only season with the Whites. Before his Leeds days,  Carlisle spent four seasons in London with Queens Park Rangers. Between 2000 and 2004, the defender played 112 times for the Rs in the second and third tier of the English pyramid.

DEF: Vinnie Jones

Jones was a part of the 1989/90 Second Division title winning side where he scored 5 goals and played 52 times during the season. He made an additional appearance the following year but was snapped up by Sheffield United in September 1990. He later went on to sign for Chelsea and join up with Wimbledon for a second spell and in 1997, QPR came calling. He made a total of nine appearances and scored one goal over the course of two seasons with the club. 

MID: Shaun Derry

Back in February 2005, Leeds signed Derry from Crystal Palace for an undisclosed fee and he remained with the Whites until 2007. He featured on 78 occasions for Leeds and netted three goals in all competitions. The midfielder made the move to London in 2010 where he achieved promotion to the Premier League in his first season with QPR. Overall, he played 99 times for the Rs and retired from football in 2014.

MID: Steve Hodge

Part of the 1991/92 First Division title winning side, Hodge scored 10 goals in 67 appearances between 1991 and 1994 for the Whites. The former England international was snapped up by Queens Park Rangers after his departure from Leeds but only played 15 games for the club from October 1994 to December 1995.

MID: Tony Currie

After racking up 376 appearances for Sheffield United, Leeds United secured Currie’s signature in 1976. He was heavily involved with the first team and played 124 games and scored 16 goals for the club in three seasons. He dropped down into the Second Division when he left Leeds for QPR in 1979. Over the next four seasons, Currie featured 98 times for the Rs and netted six goals in all competitions.

ATT: Tyler Roberts

The Wales international racked up 108 appearances and nine goals during his time with Leeds United before his departure in the summer. He was part of the Leeds side who were promoted to the Premier League as Championship winners during the 2019/20 campaign. Roberts was sent out on loan to Queen Park Rangers during the 2022/23 season where he scored four goals in 20 games.

ATT: Matt Smith

Smith made the move to Leeds from Oldham Athletic back in 2013 and scored 13 goals in all competitions in his debut season for the Whites. However, he left the club the following season for Fulham in September 2014 with a total of 48 appearances and 14 goals to his name. QPR secured his signature on transfer deadline day in January 2017 and remained in London for the next two and a half seasons. During this time, he netted 23 goals in 102 games for the Rs before moving on to Millwall in 2019.

ATT: Dexter Blackstock 

The Antigua and Barbuda international signed for QPR in August 2006 and went on to feature 116 times and score 32 goals for the club. After three seasons with the London side, Blackstock moved to Nottingham Forest and after a number of seasons with the Reds, he was sent out on loan to Leeds United in October 2013. He scored on his debut for Leeds against Huddersfield Town but his loan spell was cut short due to injury and returned to Forest the following December. Overall, he featured four times for the Whites and netted one goal.
