Leeds United Foundation celebrate World Book Day

Workshops and activites delivered across Leeds.

The Leeds United Foundation have been celebrating World Book Day throughout the week, with various fun activities delivered across the city during their Premier League Primary Stars sessions.

World Book Day is an annual campaign, taking place on Thursday 7th March for 2024, and it is a fantastic celebration of books, authors, illustrators, and the joy of reading.

The club’s official charity is showing their support for the campaign through their various education programmes, using the power of sport, football and Leeds United, to encourage and engage young children in reading more.

Running their very own short story competition, hosting quizzes, and donating over 250 free books from the National Literacy Trust, are just some of the ways the Foundation have chosen to celebrate the occasion over the last few days with hundreds of young students.

Some of our partner schools that have received book donations across the week, include Beeston Primary School, Kerr Mackie School, Gledhow Primary School, Carlton Primary School, and Alder Tree Primary Academy.

The first-team players were also keen to get involved and help encourage children to read and write as much as possible, delivering motivational video messages and signing lots of different books and Leeds United programmes that could be used as prizes.
