Under-21 duo visit Healthy Holidays Camp

Pair join disadvantaged youngsters.

Harry Christy and Kris Moore recently made a special visit to Temple Learning Academy to join a group of young people participating in one of the Leeds United Foundation Healthy Holidays Camps.

The Healthy Holidays initiative provides free engaging and enriching activities for young students during the school holidays, including half-term breaks such as Easter and Christmas as well as in the summer. The programme is available for children who receive free school meals, with the Foundation and their partners, the Leeds Community Fund and Arla, providing food during the day as well as food packages to take home for their families.

During the session at Temple Academy the Under-21 duo were on hand to meet with the young kids and coaches and take part in a few games of dodgeball with them, before handing out some medals and answering some questions around life as a footballer and life at Leeds United from those in attendance at the camp.

Leeds United Under-21 captain, Harry Christy, said: “It’s been amazing as always coming down and seeing the work the Foundation are doing. It’s always a pleasure when I get invited to come and see what Leeds United are doing behind the scenes, because everyone just sees the football side of it but it’s really nice to see first hand what the club are doing away from the pitch.

“To be able to come here today and have a bit of fun with these kids has been great, and we’ve both really enjoyed it, and I hope they did as well.”

The club’s official charity delivers sessions across a number of different local schools in some of the more deprived areas in Leeds. Usually taking place four days a week during school holidays, the children can take part in a range of educational and multi-sport activities. Each child that participates in a Healthy Holidays session also receives a Leeds United goody bag, along with their breakfast, lunch and food hampers.
