Leeds United celebrate one year with Her Game Too

Anniversary celebrated at Southampton clash.

Today marks one year since Leeds United announced their partnership with Her Game Too, a campaign that aims to raise awareness around sexist abuse within the realms of football.

The club were just the second Premier League team to launch a partnership with Her Game Too, dedicating a fixture to the national campaign during the 2021/22 season, with first-team players showing their support for everything it stands for.

A year on, and the partnership continues to grow with Leeds United once again dedicating an entire matchday to the campaign to help celebrate our one-year anniversary.

Our upcoming Premier League match against Southampton will act as the dedicated game, with increased branding being used around the stadium including in concourses, on the big screen and advertising boards, along with information on the website and in the matchday programme and once again a show of support form the first team squad, who will be wearing specially designed t-shirts during the warm-up with players and staff also donning pin badges throughout the day. There will also be volunteers from Her Game Too in attendance ahead of kick-off, so please keep an eye out for them and show your support by having photos with their branded frame.

Jess Furness, the Leeds United ambassador for Her Game Too, said: “It has been a year since Her Game Too's official partnership with Leeds United was officially announced, and the response that we received on social media on that day especially was mind-blowing and it's a day that we as a campaign will always fondly look back on.

“The eagerness that the club have shown to the campaign has been highly appreciated and they have shown what it really means to be Marching On Together. In the space of a year the campaign has grown massively, thanks to partnerships with clubs like Leeds and endless support from people that just want football to be a more welcoming and safe space for female fans.

“Leeds United have a strong network of females involved with the club, from people working in the club itself, to our Women's team who recently reached the 4th Round of the FA Cup and last but not least, our loyal fanbase that always show commitment and unconditional love. Thank you to our male allies that help to ensure that equality is achieved, and that no female ever feels out of place when supporting Leeds.

“I'm very much looking forward to our dedicated game on the 25th February when we take on Southampton at home. It will be a great celebration of the HGT x Leeds United one year anniversary, and here's hoping that we get all three points from the fixture. Come on Leeds!”
