Foundation launch Active Through Football sessions

Foundation launch Active Through Football sessions

Opportunities available across Leeds.

The Leeds United Foundation are pleased to announce the Active Through Football projects that are being launched in different areas of Leeds to help more adults get into the sport and unlock its many benefits.

Football has the power to bring communities together and help people build connections. Getting involved in your local football group is a great way to meet new people and socialise with your neighbours. Also, whether you want to get more active, make new friends, pick up new skills or just have more of a routine, it can be a great way to improve your mental health - all whilst improving your fitness and coordination!

That’s why partners across Leeds have come together to deliver the Active Through Football programme to several areas in the city, including in Hunslet, Beeston, Holbeck, Richmond Hill and Burmantofts.

The project is being delivered by the Leeds United Foundation and funded by the Football Foundation, with the community firmly at the heart of the project.

The aim of this programme is to get people moving, so even if you have never kicked a ball or scored a goal before, there will be something for you and your voice will be heard.

The following projects have been launched throughout February, with weekly sessions taking place and many more sessions to be announced in the near future, the current sessions include:

  • 16+ Turn Up and Play at the Bilal Sports Centre Harehills, every Friday from 8:30pm-9:30pm
  • 35+ Walking Football at the Hunslet Club, every Thursday from 11am-12pm
  • 16+ Intro to Football session at Saxton Richmond Hill, every Saturday from 10am-12pm
  • Every Player Counts disability session at Holbeck Community Centre, every Friday from 1pm-2:30pm
