Arla kick off partnership with Leeds United Foundation

Partnership works to tackle food insecurity in the local community.

The Leeds United Foundation have joined forces with Arla in a bid to blow the final whistle on food insecurity for young people in the local community – helping to provide education around food, nutrition, and healthy lifestyles.

As part of the Foundation’s Healthy Families initiative which Arla has committed to supporting, children are being given the opportunity to learn the basics of where our food comes from, the importance of a balanced diet, physical education and how to make simple, healthy meals and snacks.

During some recent Healthy Holiday camps delivered by the Premier League Kicks team at the Leeds United Foundation, 95 packed lunches and 108 food hampers were provided to families equating to 5,711 meals. During the fully funded Arla camps, that took place in Armley, Beeston and Holbeck, Hunslet and Riverside, and Killingbeck and Seacroft, there were also 179 bottles of Cravendale milk distributed between the sites.

Across the different venues, 150 unique participants were engaged with in total, and the young people were each given a branded Leeds United gift bag along with the opportunity to attend educational workshops each day, including visits from West Yorkshire Police, Network Rail and the Arla Dairy Education team.

As part of the partnership, between school terms Arla are also supporting holiday hunger in some of the most deprived areas of Leeds. Arla’s contribution will help the Leeds United Foundation to continue providing food hampers for families, as well as the opportunity for young people to participate in a number of sports activities.

Arla continues to show its ongoing commitment to supporting youngsters, providing Arla Cravendale to schools across the nation to ensure that no child is too hungry to learn during school hours.
