Health and fitness programme looking for new members.

The Leeds United Foundation launched a new health and fitness initiative for adults earlier this year and are now looking for new members to start the second phase of the free programme.

Delivered in line with the EFL Trust, the programme entitled ‘FIT LEEDS’ is centred around adults aged from 35 to 65 with the aim of them staying healthy, keeping fit and looking after their mental wellbeing.

The first phase of the programme has been running since January, lasting for a total of 12 weeks with the second stage set to start in just three weeks on Wednesday 29th April and this time round there is the chance for females to get involved with the first stage limited to males only.

The programme looks to support anyone who is currently inactive and would benefit from becoming more active but is struggling due to a number of different reasons, whether that is a lack of opportunities, income or motivation.

Due to the current COVID-19 lockdown, the weekly sessions that would usually be held at Elland Road are unable to go ahead but the programme is still running with members able to get support, motivation and guidance through online platforms from our Leeds United Foundation coaches. Once service is back to normal there will be weekly two-hour sessions held to help monitor your progress and keep you on track.

Throughout the duration of the programme every individual will have the following areas monitored, including blood pressure, weight measurement, lifestyle, physical activity and mental health and wellbeing.

This programme has been developed by the EFL and Sport England with additional funding from The National Lottery and together they have worked to identify local authority areas to target with this investment, based on deprivation, inactivity levels and the number of adults overweight.
