Pablo and Gjanni pay surprise visit to Leeds Children\'s Hospital

Pablo Hernandez spends time on his birthday with Gjanni Alioski and Children's Heart Surgery Fund.

Pablo Hernandez turned 34 recently and on the day of his birthday he took the time to visit youngsters at Leeds Children's Hospital with teammate Gjanni Alioski.

The Whites duo headed to the hospital, which is based in the city centre, straight after training to meet with the club's Charity Partner of the Year, Children's Heart Surgery Fund (CHSF) for a special meet and greet with some of the patients currently spending time on the Congenital Heart Ward.

Staff from CHSF along with those that work on Ward 51 day in, day out took the Leeds United stars around each of the patients and families to give out special gifts, have photographs and spend time chatting to them about their condition or about the surgery they had either already had or were waiting to have.

Macedonian international Alioski spoke to LUTV during the visit and said: “It’s not easy to come and see the kids in the hospital; they have problems with their heart, but it’s good that we can make them a little bit happier.

"To speak with them and ask them how they are feeling and if you see the parents and how they feel – I just wish all them here the best and I hope they recover so quickly.

“It’s good what the club are doing here with us players, I like to help them (the patients) and to make them a little happy. It’s good to say something to them, to wish them all the best and to help motivate them in their recovery.”

The club are running a fundraising campaign with Children’s Heart Surgery Fund to help fund life-saving equipment for babies and children just like those that Pablo and Gjanni met during this visit.

Not only will monies raised help to purchase a Super-Life Support machine and a dialysis machine for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Leeds Children’s Hospital but also support the renovation of the family areas dedicated to the heart ward.

If you are able to donate to the campaign please visit justgiving.com/all-leeds-all-heart here.
