Joe Rodon Wins December\'s Socios Player of the Month

The defender wins the Player of the Month award for the first time

Joe Rodon has been named the Socios Player of the Month for the first time, after 33% of Leeds fans voted for the Welshman in December’s poll.

The Spurs loanee featured in all seven games throughout the month and played the entire 90 minutes in each game as Leeds picked up wins against Middlesbrough, Blackburn and Ipswich Town.

Rodon has been almost ever-present in the heart of defence this season as the Whites sit 4th in the Championship table. So far, he has only missed just two league games this campaign, building a strong centre-back partnership with Pascal Struijk in the process.

The 26-year-old faced tough competition in December's poll, with Crysencio Summerville coming second also with 33% of the vote as just nine individual votes separated the two. Dan James came third with 21%, whilst Pascal Struijk came in fourth (12%).

After picking up the award, the Welshman showed his appreciation, saying, “I’m very grateful, not just to the fans but my teammates and everyone involved as well. It was a difficult month for us but we’ve had two good results coming into the New Year now so I’m delighted to continue.”

When Rodon signed on loan, he was reunited with his fellow Welsh teammates Dan James and Ethan Ampadu and says that having familiar faces around made it easier to settle into the squad. “Knowing a few of the boys before I came here was always going to help. The fans, the staff and everyone here have been amazing with me since day one. I've loved every minute of it and I’m looking forward to the second half of the season and hopefully we can go on a good run.”
