Loan Watch: Gyabi Picks Up Top Award

A look at the fortunes of Leeds' Academy players out on loan

Leeds United Academy midfielder Darko Gyabi was recently named Plymouth's Player of the Month, for his performances during the month of February.

The midfielder was cup-tied for the three games against Leeds, but made five appearances, helping the Pilgrims to two wins and a draw, whilst getting an assist in the 2-0 win over Middlesbrough.

Gyabi has switched between playing on the left wing and at the heart of the midfield, playing alongside former Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw.

Talking to pafc.co.uk, Gyabi said of his award "I wasn't expecting it, but I'm really excited. It's been tough, because there were games where I couldn't play, but since I've been back in the team, I've just tried to help as much as possible in terms of working hard, helping the lads and taking everything in. We're back on the up now, and so it's good."

Devastating news for young defender Jeremiah Mullen, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season, after suffering a stress fracture in his back whilst on-loan at Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

On revealing the news, Caley manager Duncan Ferguson said "That’s a big one for us as he’s a good young player", after Mullen had made four appearances for the Scottish Championship club.

Since joining York City on a short-term loan at the end of February, Charlie Allen has made two more appearances for the Minstermen following his debut against Oldham. The forward played 45 minutes of their 2-0 loss against Barnet, before playing a full 90 against Wealdstone last week.

The Northern Irish international was on the bench for York's game against AFC Fylde three days later, but will be aiming to get some minutes on Saturday, when they travel to Kidderminster Harriers.

Lewis Bate continues to enjoy his time at MK Dons, the 21 year old is now a regular in Mike Williamson's side, having made 11 appearances since joining in January.

The midfielder recently played a full 90 minutes, as the Dons defeated Mansfield Town 2-1, moving them up to fifth in the League Two table, with a clash against Salford awaiting on Saturday.
