Leeds United Under-18s were at home on Saturday afternoon, against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League Cup with both sides looking for their first win in Group C of the competition.

The Whites got off to an electric start with a swift move from left to right which found Harvey Vincent, who drove into the box, then cut a ball back to find Finley Gorman. From there, he fired a right-footed finish past the keeper and gave the home side the lead.

Within 20 minutes of the game, Leeds had their second! This time the provider turned to the goal scorer.

After Dan Toulson had pinched the ball back in the Forest half and drove towards the box, he offloading a smart pass to the right where Vincent found himself in a good position and finished well, to round off a good move.

The away side pulled one back moments later. A clever move down the left saw the ball pulled back to the edge of the six-yard box, where Archie Whitehall was free to tap it home from close range.

It didn’t take long for Scott Gardner’s side to regain their two-goal advantage, though! A long ball from the keeper found Marley Wilson, who flicked on well with his knee to Vincent, who then glided past one defender and finished into the bottom corner to get his second of the game.

Just before the half-time whistle, it got better for the home side when Wilson added a fourth in superb style.

Joe Billet won the ball back with a strong challenge, allowing the ball to fall to Wilson. He tricked his way past the Forest defenders and the striker drilled a low effort into the far corner, leaving the keeper with little chance.

After a quiet start to the second half, a free kick for Leeds right on the edge of the box saw Gorman over it, and he hit a thunderous low effort on target, but the keeper got down well to palm it away.

Forest tried to pull one back from a quick counter. They moved the ball from right to left and Danny Anisjko cut inside, releasing a low shot but he could only find the side netting from a tight angle.

The Whites went up the other end straight after. Rhys Chadwick found space down the left-hand side and looped a ball to the back post, where Vincent was free but his first-time volley was saved by Keehan Willows, denying the winger his hat-trick.

This was to be the last of the action in this Premier League Cup clash, meaning Leeds claimed all three points in dominant style.

Gardner’s side will be back in action in the league next weekend, as they face Manchester United Under-18s at Thorp Arch.
