U21s Preview: Newcastle United vs Leeds United

Whites in PL2 action on Monday afternoon.

Leeds United Under-21s travel away from home in Premier League 2 Division 2 action on Monday evening, taking on Newcastle United Under-21s (7pm kick-off).

The Whites are aiming to get back to winning ways after a tough start to the new year, with three defeats in a row, having previously gone nine games unbeaten at the beginning of the season.

Newcastle are in a tough run of form themselves, and have lost their last four matches, meaning they are now down the table in 8th position, just a point above rivals local Sunderland.

The two teams met one another at Thorp Arch in a final game before the international break for the World Cup, in an entertaining six-goal match. That one saw the Whites come out on top with a 4-2 win.

With plenty of matches and time remaining in the season, Leeds are in a fight at the top end of the table as they battle it out for promotion. Southampton currently sit top of the league, but with just a two-point game, Leeds can retake top-spot with a victory.

Just six points separate the entire top six. The Saints have 27, whilst Aston Villa in sixth are on 21. Teams around each other also have games in hand, so movement and the swapping of places is expected over the coming weeks.

How to watch:
