Preview: Leeds United Women vs York City Ladies

Bannister Prentice Stadium

Leeds United Women are back in midweek FA WNL Division One North action on Wednesday evening, welcoming York City Ladies to the Bannister Prentice Stadium.

A week on from the last league fixture, the Whites will be looking to return to winnings ways after being held to a 1-1 draw away at Doncaster Rovers Belles.

Drew Greene had Simon Wood's visiting side 1-0 up in the first half, before they were pinned back by a well-hit freekick from the edge of the area only a handful of minutes later.

York are coming in off the back of a 2-1 loss at home to Cheadle Town Women, which dropped Wednesday's visitors into the relegation places at the foot of the table.

The two sides have met already this season in the FA WNL Cup group stage, where United ran out 5-2 winners thanks to a hattrick from Ellie White away at the University of York Sports Centre.

23 points separate the sides and with Leeds currently top of the table, three points would aid in the bid for the title. On the over hand, York's sights are set on Doncaster's spot outside the bottom two, who they are level on points but two goals worse off than.

Action from the Bannister Prentice Stadium gets underway at 7.45pm.

The view from inside the camp:

Ahead of the clash, Whites' midfielder Kath Smith said: "We are always really excited for a midweek game.

"Now we are in the business end of the season, so we are all really excited and wanting to get back out on the pitch and get into some momentum."
