Kath Smith: We need the points on the board

Midfielder previews midweek clash.

Kath Smith arrivals vs Doncaster

Leeds United are back in midweek FA WNL Division One North action on Wednesday as they welcome York City Ladies to the Bannister Prentice Stadium.

Ahead of the clash, a first meeting in the league this season, Whites' midfielder Kath Smith has spoken to leedsunited.com. "We are always really excited for a midweek game," she said.

"Now we are in the business end of the season, so we are all really excited and wanting to get back out on the pitch and get into some momentum.

"Every game is a game that we need to win at this moment in time. We need to get the points on the board and we need to move forward.

"Saturday's win was really good," Smith said on the comfortable West Riding FA County Cup victory over Harrogate Town Women. "There were a lot of good, well-worked team goals that will put us in really good stead ready for York because we need to be hitting the back of the net.

"We need to be getting some goals in to give us that boost of confidence, which games like Saturday will give us.

"York are fighting for their lives. They will be looking to do whatever they can to get a point, so we know what to expect but that fighting power they will have from trying to stay up will make it difficult for us, so we all need to be on our A game."
