Preview: Leeds United Women vs Doncaster Rovers Belles

Whites host Belles.

Garforth October 25

Leeds United Women are back in FA Women’s National League Division One North action this Wednesday, welcoming Yorkshire rivals Doncaster Rovers Belles to Garforth.

The Whites face a quick turnaround as they host Doncaster, only three days after a 5-1 victory in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup over FC St Helens Women, also at Garforth.

In that clash, substitutes shone, as first-half introduction Sian Gibrill-Keating won the penalty that Kath Smith dispatched to open the scoring, and scored in the second half, and 65th minute addition Brittany Sanderson netted a brace.

Last time out in the league, the Whites recorded an impressive win away at Huddersfield Town Women, as Amy Woodruff bagged the winner with five minutes to play to secure the West Yorkshire Derby bragging rights and lift Leeds to fifth in the table on 11 points.

Our visitors, on the other hand, are coming in off the back of a 3-0 loss at home to Birmingham City PGA in the FA WNL Plate, and last time in the league, Doncaster suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Chorley Women, leaving them on six points from six games and eighth-placed in the table.

Action from the Bannister Prentice Stadium gets underway at 2pm.

Ahead of the clash, Whites midfielder and former-Belle Ellie White said: "We're all feeling really positive ahead of Wednesday's game, it's a good occasion under the lights so we're all buzzing.

"A big aim for us this season is to win every game, especially in the league, and to put pressure on the teams at the top. We just need to keep the momentum going from all those cup games back into the league."
