CHRIS LOOKING FOR STRONG FINISH

Youngster determined to finish on a high...

Young United midfielder Chris Dawson is determined to put in a strong finish to the season.

A shoulder injury towards the end of last term limited the midfielder’s pre-season activity and Chris admits that he started the Under-21’s campaign slowly.

The 19-year-old has made more appearances for Neil Redfearn’s Development Squad and says he is starting to feel comfortable playing again.

“I started the season slowly after coming back from my injury,” said the youngster. “I’m now building up and I’m feeling better and a lot fitter.

“When the injury was still on going I was struggling to go into any challenges with my shoulder popping in and out of place. Now I feel a lot better going into challenges and not being worried about it slipping out of place.

“I feel a lot fitter and a lot shaper now so hopefully I’ll be able to push on.”

Chris has one senior United appearance to his name after making his debut against Derby County last season and he is now hoping for a strong finish to the campaign.

“I just want to push on now and get myself a few goals and look to get even fitter and stronger. Then we’ll see where that takes me,” said Dawson.

“It’s important to finish the season strongly and then I’ll be able to kick on in pre-season.

“That is massive for a lot of players that are looking to break through, so hopefully I’ll be able to do that.”
