DARKO SEEING IMPROVEMENTS

Head coach getting a better understanding of his squad...

United head coach Darko Milanic says he is continually learning more and more about his squad and believes performances have improved as a result.

Milanic is still chasing his first win since taking charge of the club towards the end of September, but his side came from behind to collect a point in a testing encounter at Norwich on Tuesday night.

The 46-year-old was satisfied to come away from Carrow Road with a draw as he now prepares for the visit of Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday (3pm).

"I think that it was a good point, like I thought after the game," said Milanic.

"It was a difficult game, the opponents had a lot of pressure. They’re a very good team and we had to defend well. Defending for part of the game was good.

"I think that we are better because we know each other better. I saw where we had some problems in the games when the opponent is extremely aggressive.

"We have a profile of the players and of our style and we have to train hard to do it well."

Milanic is yet to name an unchanged team in any of his five games in charge so far and is cautious of how the hectic Championship schedule could affect his squad.

"It is difficult to play every week with the same players and because of suspension, injuries and a lot of games, we don't have a lot of time between games," he said.

"We also have some extremely young players. They won’t make it if they play too much.

"It is important for me and it is important for the club that we have solutions."

Milanic has also been wary of overusing 17-year-old midfielder Lewis Cook, as the youngster was used as a second-half substitute at Norwich after starting against Rotherham.

"I’ve been here one month and he has started three times," said the head coach. "He played in the last game also and he is extremely young with talent. He will play in the future."
