Leeds United Women were victim to another late equaliser, drawing 2-2 away at Wythenshawe this afternoon.

A first-half brace from Chloe Dixon had the Whites 2-1 up into the 88th minute, before the hosts found a late equaliser despite Leeds’ constant pressure.

Manager Simon Wood spoke after the result: “Today was probably our best all-round performance in terms of the chances created, but we need to start hitting the back of the net.

“We were behind in a game but we’ve not lost, but this feels a bit like a loss, but there’s again positives we need to take in, and we need that reaction now.

“It was really important,” Simon said on Dixon’s goals. “The two goals came from us working harder.

“The first goal came from Paige chasing down a player in the corner, she really wanted that ball.

“The second is a superb header from Kath in the middle of the park, we dominated that area but what we’ve got to do is do that consistently well over the 90 minutes.

On Blackburn next week: “We’re building, we’ve said that to the players before today that we can see the things we want to do are coming, but we’ve got to make sure that comes when we’re on top of games.

“Blackburn will be a challenge, they’re after points – we haven’t lost today, but we need to start picking up three points in games.

“We go with the same focus we had today, pick up three points and make sure we can match that performance from today.

“We have a bit more calmness around the penalty area then we get the goals that the performance probably deserved today, that we weren’t rewarded with.”
