Leeds United Women were held to another 2-2 draw, with Chloe Dixon’s first-half brace cancelled out two minutes before the final whistle, securing a point from a visit to Wythenshawe in the league.

Simon Wood made two changes from last time out in the cup, bringing Rebekah Bass and Chloe Dixon back into the Starting XI.

The first half started off slowly, with neither side really being able to take control of the game, and no clear-cut chances, but as the clock ticked past the half-an-hour mark, the hosts found a breakthrough.

Chelsea Birch made it 1-0 to the hosts after prodding the ball into the back of the net from close range, after Divine Obida delivered a drilled cross.

But it didn’t take long before Leeds levelled the score, as Dixon acrobatically fired home at the back post, converting Ellie White’s lofted cross following Paige Williams’ layoff.

And two minutes before the half time whistle, Dixon once again found the back of the net, this time sliding in and converting Kath Smith’s flicked pass past the ‘keeper to put the Whites ahead heading into the break.

The start to the second half followed a similar tone to the first, with neither side really able to get a foothold.

Wythenshawe saw the first sight of goal of the half, with the ball making its way into the back of the net, but the linesman’s flag was up, and the goal was disallowed.

Williams then demonstrated some brilliant desire to win the ball, battling with the hosts’ defence and winning it back in the corner, before cutting back to White, but her shot was over the bar.

After a host of half-chances for either side, with Leeds having the better, the next real sight of goal came ten minutes before the final whistle, as Darcie Greene made a surging run down the left wing, before cutting back and firing at goal, forcing a strong hand from Allison Cress.

But it was the hosts that again found the back of the net despite Leeds’ pressure, as Goodwin curled into the top corner from range with two minutes of normal time left.
