Shauna Legge: Everyone is going to be up for it

Defender looks ahead to County Cup Final.

Shauna Legge pre Halifax final

Leeds United Women conclude their season this weekend with a West Riding FA County Cup Final against Halifax Women.

A convincing victory over Knaresborough Town booked the Whites’ spot in the showpiece event, something which defender and childhood United fan Shauna Legge is incredibly excited for.

“We have had a bit of a break with the league finishing but training has still been good,” the centre-back explained.

“It gives people a little break to come back refreshed and ready to go, hopefully get hold of some silverware.

“It would be unreal obviously to lift a trophy with the Leeds badge on your chest. I can’t imagine a feeling like it.

“It would be a good way to end a decent season finishing with a trophy but we know it is going to be a challenge.

“We know it is always going to be an intense game, a local derby against a local rival, with a few familiar faces there as well.

“I don’t think it matters who we would be playing. With the chance of winning the trophy, I think everyone is going to be up for it just as much as anyone else.”

As well as for herself and teammates, the defender is determined to lift the trophy to thank the fans for their fine support throughout the campaign.

“It is unmatched. I think I have mentioned it in an interview before, we can hear them all the way through the game.

“A goal or a big tackle, they are right behind you and it does give you that extra push. I have no doubt in my mind that they will be there and cheering us on this Sunday, just like they have all season.

“It doesn’t go unnoticed and we always appreciate it. Hopefully we can celebrate together with them after the game.”
