Preview: Millwall vs Leeds United

Whites back in Championship action.

The Den, Millwall

Leeds United travel to the capital on Wednesday evening to face Millwall at The Den, keen to extend their unbeaten run to nine matches in the Sky Bet Championship.

Following impressive home victories over Sheffield United and Watford, Daniel Farke’s side earned a hard-fought point on the road at Bristol City.

Despite dominating in the West County, the Robins defended resolutely and held the Whites to a goalless draw at Ashton Gate.

Back at Elland Road last time out, United cruised to a 3-0 triumph over Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle; a game in which the Pilgrims didn’t even manage a shot on goal.

Dan James’ rifled thunderbolt from the edge of the area put Leeds ahead, before the lead was doubled moments later through Joel Piroe’s predatory strike, with USA international Brenden Aaronson adding a third in the first half.

That, alongside results elsewhere, ensures United sit second in the standings, just three points behind leaders Sunderland and seven points clear of Play-Off chasing Millwall.

The Lions go into the clash on the back of three successive victories. Last time out, Neil Harris' side edged past high-flying Burnley at The Den, thanks to Jake Cooper's second half goal in Bermondsey.

A familiar foe over the years, this fixture last season saw the Whites put in a scintillating display to run out 3-0 victors, with Piroe scoring either side of the break.

Action from The Den gets underway at 7:45pm.
