Leeds United will make the long trip to the South Coast this weekend, to take on Brighton & Hove Albion at the American Express Stadium.
Daniel Farke’s side are looking to continue their impressive start to the 2026/27 Premier League season and will be aiming to extend their unbeaten run. Back-to-back victories at Nottingham Forest in the league and cup came prior to a well-earned point against Brentford at Elland Road last weekend.
The Whites had to battle hard throughout the 90 minutes against a Bees side in fine form, and did just that, before showing a moment of quality to equalise through our number 9, Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The Seagulls had an equally impressive start to the new campaign. Fabian Hürzeler saw his team dismantle Aston Villa on the opening day, scoring four unanswered goals on their way to three points. Another 4-0 thumping was then handed out to Tromso in their UEFA Conference League play-off second leg.
Last weekend, Albion would have needed another four-goal showing to take anything at Stamford Bridge, but having only scored three on this occasion, they left empty handed in a 4-3 defeat against Chelsea.
The goals have been well spread out across the team for Brighton. Seven different players have netted so far, meaning there’s plenty of threats for the visitors to keep an eye on.
Brighton is not traditionally a happy hunting ground for Leeds. The side are yet to win at the newly built AMEX Stadium, and a last win against the Seagulls on the road came in 2009.

Speaking exclusively to Premier League Studios, Jaka Bijol said: “It is going to be one really hard game again and we have to be at our best level to bring the fight to them to get the result.
“It is good to have new guys coming in, bringing the quality and improving the squad. It is always nice to play with good players who you know that can improve the team and they can help you in some moments in the game as well.
“Everyone who came, I think they brought something new and something we needed so, yeah, happy to have them. We will continue to grow together and it is nice to see.”

Speaking in his press conference, the boss gave an update on Joe Rodon.
“Bad news,” he began. “Joe has a hamstring injury. He will be out for, at the moment, an assessment of eight to 10 weeks so he will definitely not play before the next international break.
“I think this was and put even more pressure on us to bring also a wing-back option in, with Melvin Bard, because it could right now also be that we need James Justin a bit more in the central defence, where he has played as well.
“Of course, it is important that Joe comes back as quick as possible. I think the first international break is a bit longer, it won’t help the Welsh team, but will help us a bit like in that he doesn’t miss too many games.”

"I think they've played a really good second half of last season, qualified for Europe, impressive start to the season, so the whole pre-season was impressive.
"Overall they are in really good shape. Fabian [Hürzeler] has done a fantastic job there and we travel also very respectful. We have to be at our best in order to be competitive."

Sitting in over 27 per cent of FPL teams, Calvert-Lewin’s late equaliser saw him get off the mark for the season and return two bonus points to earn eight points. No player managed a higher expected goal involvement (xGI) tally in the match. The Englishman continues to be reliable for minutes, playing back-to-back full nineties.
Encouragingly, Lukas Nmecha (£5.5m) came on to play with Calvert-Lewin, not to replace him. The German picked up a smart assist for the Whites’ equaliser. FPL managers will be hopeful that Calvert-Lewin can continue his form and replicate or even go beyond last season’s tally of 14 goals and two assists. Towards the end of the previous term, the 29-year old scored against Brighton, Newcastle and Crystal Palace – all teams that Leeds will play in the next three Gameweeks.
