Ahead of Leeds United’s trip to the south coast to face Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon, centre-half Jaka Bijol is expecting another tough test from our third Premier League fixture of the new campaign.

Last time out, a late Dominic Calvert-Lewin goal earned Daniel Farke’s men a point against an impressive Brentford side, one which the 27-year-old defender was pleased with.

“It was a really difficult game for us,” Jaka exclusively told Premier League Studios, reflecting on the heard-fought draw with the Bees.

“They were in really good form coming into the game and we knew that we would have to be on our best level to get a result out of that.

“I think we struggled a little bit from the beginning but we just kept ourselves in the game and got the results at the end.”

Turning his attention to Saturday’s upcoming opposition Brighton, Bijol added: “They had a great campaign last year. We had a difficult game last season there as well, so we just have to bring our best performance again and our best face to face them.

“It is going to be, like I said, one really hard game again and we have to be at our best level to bring the fight to them to to get the result.”

As the transfer window slammed shut earlier in the week, the Whites had welcomed seven new arrivals through the door, three of which are defenders who will help bolster the backline according to the Slovenian international.

“It is good to have new guys coming in, bringing the quality and improving the squad. It is always nice to play with good players who you know that can improve the team and they can help you in some moments in the game as well.

“Everyone who came, I think they brought something new and something we needed so, yeah, happy to have them. We will continue to grow together and it is nice to see.”
