Leeds United Women are back in FA Women’s National League Division One North action on Sunday, facing a quick turnaround after Wednesday’s win as they travel to Durham Cestria.
On Wednesday, the Whites were victorious against Doncaster Rovers Belles, running out 4-0 winners in a Yorkshire derby with four different goalscorers either side of the break.
Drew Greene opened the scoring and Sian Gibrill-Keating doubled the lead before the break, and former-Doncaster Ellie White, and Emily Cassidy sealed the three points in the second half.
Ahead of the clash, Whites midfielder Kath Smith said: “I’m excited for Sunday, it’s another game – that’s three within the space of seven days – so it’s a bit of momentum.
“We’ve obviously won nine games, but I don’t think that’s something we really think about. We just take one game at a time, try and tick three points off and get the best result and performance we can.
“I think we’ll go into Sunday and think it’s another game, another cup final. Treat it like that and try and get the three points.
“It was nice to secure a result last night,” Smith commented on the win over Doncaster. “We know that in this league now, no game is going to be an easy game, so we need to put as much effort in, no matter where they are in the league – the same goes for Sunday.
“We’re closing the gap and we’re really trying to get that consistency now and that momentum week after week, so we’re looking forward to Sunday.”
