Joe Rodon: I'm Delighted To Be Back

Leeds United announced the signing of Joe Rodon earlier this week, with the defender returning to Elland Road after a successful loan spell last season.

The Welsh international agreed a four-year contract to join the Whites from Tottenham Hotspur, and despite interest from elsewhere, returning to Leeds was always on his mind.

“I am delighted to be back,” Rodon told LUTV.

“To get it over the line and get underway so early, it’s a perfect start for me.

"There was of course interest [elsewhere], but for me in my heart, there was only one destination.

“Especially with the way it ended last season and with the project I believe is going to happen here and go on for the future, I just felt Leeds is the perfect place for me.

“I think everyone knows how it ended last season, so everyone knows what is on my mind this season.”

Rodon returns to a dressing room which he knows well, once again playing alongside international teammates, but this time knowing many more faces.

He said: “Of course I knew Ethan and Dan before I came here [last season], but everyone at the club has been absolutely brilliant with me, it has been amazing so far.

“I think it is always more comfortable coming into a dressing room when you know a few faces, but I think all the boys have been outstanding and the staff as well, along with everyone else at the club.

“I felt right at home and this is the destination for me.”

Finally, the dominant central defender knows all about the fanbase too, and is looking forward to stepping out in front of them once again, this time as a permanent player.

“I think that was probably the biggest thing I noticed when I came through the doors last season”, Joe added, speaking about the fans.

“The support this club gets is unbelievable and I felt that from the first time I walked out at Elland Road.

“It’s something that has stuck with me ever since. Leeds took a chance on me when nobody else did and now I want to give everything back.”
