Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United offer the next test for Daniel Farke’s Leeds United side, who welcome the Magpies to Elland Road on Saturday evening.
The Whites have won once and lost once in the Premier League so far this campaign, beginning with a 1-0 victory over Everton on home soil.
The encounter with the Toffees proved to be a memorable one for supporters and, ahead of this one, Farke is hoping for similar.
“We know that in one game, and especially in a home game at Elland Road, we always have a chance even against the best sides,” the German told the media. “And for that we want to prepare in the best possible way and are also excited about this game.
“Obviously, we were a bit disappointed after the cup result but even on the way back to Leeds, we were already focused on Newcastle.
“Each point matters and each point has the same value so for that, of course, I liked also that we won the first home game also with a clean sheet and with the top performance gave confidence.
“And for a newly promoted side, it is always crucial that you become a fortress at home and win many points at home, but wherever we find the points and we can pick them up and we win them, we take this because in the end we know we need more or less a point average of one per game.
“I know it is a big, big challenge and a long road. We are already on three points, this is quite good, but three points won’t be enough so we have to make sure in each of your home games we fight for the other points, but believe me, we will also do this in the away games.”
Farke conceded that midfielders Ethan Ampadu and Ao Tanaka still remain sidelined prior to the fixture against a side who have a number of absentees due to injury and suspension themselves.
“I think in these terms that key players are missing, it is quite even,” he added. “For us, perhaps even a bit more difficult to replace our key players in comparison to the Newcastle squad but sometimes you can’t choose and for that we accept this as well. We go with what we have got for this game and try to win as many points as possible.”
